If you want to make money on eBay full time, there's one thing you just can't get around. You can't get around (or cheat at) the eBay rules. And why should you even want to try?

1. Do not bid on your own items to drive the price up. This is called "shilling" and is a definite no-no on eBay. That includes having friends or relatives doing it for you. Schilling is unethical and flat wrong. If...no, not if...when you get caught you will pay for it in many lost dollars and a bad reputation.

2. When someone bids on something you are selling on eBay you must sell it. When you post things on eBay you enter into a contract between you and the bidder. That contract is binding and you have to honor it even if you will lose money doing so. The bidder is obligated to buy and you are obligated to sell.

To most people who want to make money on eBay, these rules are obviously the right thing to do. However, there are always those dishonest people who are always looking for ways around the rules and are willing to use dishonest means to make money.

If you want to make eBay your business, remember that your are in it for the long haul. Reputation is everything on eBay.

So don't try to bend the rules and you will find that you will have a great business and make plenty of money while working under great values. If you take this higher road to success, you and your customers will be much happier...and you will sleep a lot better.
