Internet marketers should be just as dedicated to providing good customer service as any other business. Just because you only operate over the Internet and rarely see anyone face to face does not give you the excuse to provide poor customer service. The truth is, when you are running on online business, you should exceed the normal expectations of great customer service. Many of the sales in the Internet business realm are automated, so you never really think about what sort of customer service your should be offering, but this is a great arena in which you can separate yourself from the competition. Learn your clients’ first and last names and use them when you send them mails and notices about your services. Your client will surely appreciate you more when you address them as “Dear Ms. Jones.” It is really so much more personable than “Hello” or “Dear Valued Customer.”
Another way to offer great customer service is sending a discount email to someone that buys a product from you. You can set up and automatic system so that it will respond whenever someone has submitted an order to you, and you can keep bringing the customers back. You could do hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in repeat business this way. No one will turn away from a great deal! You can go about this a couple of ways either by creating a set of coupon codes that you give to previous buyers or by offering a product or service created just for them if they respond directly to you.
If you want to provide good customer service you also have to make it easy for customers to contact you to leave feedback or ask questions. Having no contact information will reduce the number of sales you make and the number of people who return to your site. If you can’t be contacted, visitors will often assume you are a scammer. You have to be available to your customers and potential customers. That’s why you have to provide some contact information. This does mean a little more effort on your part, but if it means more sales, isn’t it worth it? Simply seeing that you are someone who is reachable may be enough to convert a visitor to your site into someone who makes a purchase.
There are a lot of ways that you can practice good customer service as an internet marketer. Remember, good customer service is not just for retail businesses. This cannot be ignored by anyone who wants his customers to keep returning. When someone is thinking about buying something, he wants to be sure that the seller is someone he can trust and who will treat him with respect.
