Internet Marketing - Tentative Effort Just Won't Cut It
An uninspired effort won’t get you the gold. To win it, you must be fully engaged in the task at hand and operating at peak efficiency. Not fully committing to the job is a common mistake for new internet marketers. You need a one to three year minimum commitment to grow to a six figure income. You also need self-confidence and the desire to succeed.
Are you in it to win it? Financial independence is not going to arrive immediately. Any business you start up, whether totally new or as a member of an established company, takes at least 3 years to really mature into a money making enterprise. Internet applications and competition move at computer speed so you must constantly adapt and adjust. Learning is a non-stop necessity. This is not a sprint, but a marathon, and you need to have the will to never let up or give up. An Olympic athlete has to wait four years to receive his or her reward for all their devotion, training and learning. So patience and hard work pay off eventually, but you need to keep faith.
There’s a story I want to share about a fox and a hare. One day a fox saw a hare out of his den. The fox gave chase and was in close pursuit as the hare ran. The hare zigged and zagged, keeping the fox at bay and using every trick he knew to avoid getting caught. After a few minutes of chasing, the fox gave up to seek out an easier meal. He didn’t want to spend his entire day chasing after the hare. The hare in this story was fully committed to avoiding capture. The fox may have been running for his dinner, but the hare was running for his life. Although your commitment to success doesn’t need to be quite as intense as the hare’s, you should still be as consistent, energetic and motivated.
Golfer Nancy Lopez says, “A competitor will find a way to win. Competitors take bad breaks and use them to drive themselves just that much harder. Quitters take bad breaks and use them as reasons to give up. It’s all a matter of pride.” You are a competitor in the internet marketing game, and the only way you will fail is by quitting. Winners never quit and quitters never win.
I have followed Brian Tracy, the self-development master guru, for decades. He says that winners have a long-term time horizon, meaning that they understand it takes time to realize their goals. They also stay in the game until they win, because they believe their success is inevitable.
Robert Allen, the multimillionaire and New-York Times best-selling author who has made a fortune in real estate, in internet marketing, and in network marketing, tells his new associates to imagine that they have inherited a million-dollar fortune. All they have to do to get it is climb Mount McKinley within twelve months.
Not many of those people would be able to climb Mount McKinley now. But what if they took the year they were allotted to get the training they need and put together a support team? Would they then be able to climb Mount McKinley and claim their inheritance? Most of them could and would do it. They just need to be sufficiently motivated. The good news about growing your business is that the first year isn’t nearly as difficult as climbing Mount McKinley, although it still requires you to be motivated to succeed.
At this point, most of us have heard about “The Secret” and understand the Law of Reciprocity. The Law of Reciprocity states that “if you do good for others, then good will be returned to you.” The Law of Attraction is similar. It states that when we do good for others with no expectation of gain, we attract good to ourselves. If you think about it, sometimes it does feel great just knowing that we helped someone else.
