Stuffing Your Keywords Is Not the Way To Increase Your Search Engine Ranking
Do you own a business, want to own a business, or dream of passive income? Then you have probably stumbled on the Internet as a way to do it. And you are probably learning that SEO is the holy grail of making money on the internet. If you give this a shot, you quickly learn that SEO is a must. But, hopefully after you read this, you’ll see that keyword stuffing is not.
What you are doing is called keyword stuffing, and it used to work a long time ago. For example, if you were a Seattle DUI attorney you’d write ”Seattle DUI attorney” ”Seattle DUI lawyer” ”DUI attorney Seattle” and similar words all over your website as much as possible. This would let the search engines know that you were talking about your subject area.
But the search engines evolved because people started taking advantage of that aspect of search engine optimization. They began creating sites filled with nothing but keywords hoping they’d get picked up and placed at the top of the search results – and for a while they did.
But the search engines, for the most part, aren’t concerned with who is at the top. What they are concerned with is providing good content to those who are searching. They want to answer the person’s search query with the first result, not give them a site with a bunch of random, but related, words. So the search engines started to alter what they did to fix that.
And then they began to penalize people that did that. It makes sense, since those types of sites are out there only to get people to click on them and then click away, not to provide helpful information.
So, when you start your quest to beat the search engines and rank high for your desired keywords, don’t stuff a bunch of keywords on one site. Keep the keywords manageable, and keep the content good. That will put you on the road to search engine domination.
I am a Seattle DUI lawyer that dabbles in SEO. If you’re curious about SEO for your DUI attorney website, stay tuned for more helpful info.
