Five Free Methods For Generating Website Traffic
While there are a number of paid ways to jump start traffic flow, many site owners don’t have the capital resources necessary to generate the needed traffic. Well, you don’t have to spend a cent; all you need is the proper mindset and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. You also must have the drive and perseverance to do hard work and research to generate more traffic for your site.
There isn’t anything more satisfying than not spending a single cent for good quality traffic and knowing that your hard work has paid off. You may have heard of all of these methods before and you are so adverse to putting yourself “out there,” for something that may work that you have avoided it for a long time. I am here to tell you that these methods work and produce goo old fashioned quality traffic. There is a catch though. You will have to devote some time to it but I guarantee that you will get results.
Traffic Tip #1:Take advantage of online forums and online communities:
You are probably saying this guys living in the past, forums just don’t work. The truth is, they do work and I have one forum that I belong to that consistently provides hundreds of viewers each month like clockwork. I made one post and I consistently get several hundred views each month. That’s only one forum multiply that by 10 and you have several thousand viewers each month. The great thing about forums and online communities is that you can target a certain group that fits the certain demographic that you are looking for. You can discuss about lots of things about the niche that you represent or offer. Another great advantage is that you know who your target is, through the forum so you can tailor your pages to them.
With online communities and forums you can build a reputation for your company. Show them what you are made of and wow them with your range of expertise about the subject, with that you can build a reputation and build trust with the people in your expertise and knowledge.
Traffic Tip #2 Free Newsletters:
You can also make use of newsletters. Provide people with a catalog of your products and interesting and entertaining relevant articles about your niche. If you make it really interesting and entertaining, more people will sign up for your newsletter and recommend it to other people. The more people who signs up for your newsletter, the more people there will be that will go to your site increasing your traffic. Always make it easy for individuals to sign up for your newsletter.
Use a well established autoresponder such as, AWeber to ensure that you get the mandatory opt-in. If you don’t know anything about opt-in email you can check out our free information at our Email Guide
Customer emails work! Once someone opts in to get information from you they are interested in what you have to say and more importantly what you have to offer.
Traffic Tip #3 Another Great Idea Is Trading Links With Other Sites.
Link exchange is an old tactic. You don’t have to spend a cent. All you have to do is reach an agreement with another webmaster. Some of the conventional wisdom says that link exchange is good to an extent and then the search engines start to ignore the links. Also make sure that they are niche relevant links. Links to websites that have no relationship to your niche are a waste of time and may even cost you points with the Se’s. So be careful and don’t overdo it.
Traffic Tip #4 Write Articles:
If you have come to my site Home Business Research or this blog before, you know that I am a big proponent of article writing. I’ve have written several articles on the subject and used the very same tactic myself. Trust me it works for traffic and good quality back-links to your website. Writing articles that provide good service and knowledge to other people would provide the necessary mileage your traffic flow needs.
Many sites offer free submission and posting of your articles. When people find interest in your articles they have a good chance of following the track by finding out where the article originated. Include a link or a brief description of your company with the article and there’s a great probability that they will go to your site.
Traffic Tip #5 Write Good Content For Your Site:
Many search engines track down the keywords and keyword phrases your site uses and how they are used. It is not a requirement that your content be written by a professional copy writer but it should be relevant and be peppered with your primary keywords. Generally, internet users use search engines to find what they are looking for. Search engines in return use keyword searching in aiding their search results. With the right keywords, you could get high rankings in search engine results without the costs. This is called organic traffic, the king of all free traffic. You can view my article on organic traffic on this blog.
So now you have five simple ways to get free traffic to your website.

Optimizing Tips From Google Adsense
One of the major benefits in using Google as a partner on your site is the amount of information they provide to you in support of their programs. A good example is a recent blog post on the Google Custom search box.
Google recommends using their search box for added revenue on your site. A few weeks back Google announced improvements in their search feature allowing greater control over site customization. Utilizing the custom search engine is a sure way of increasing total revenue on your site. Their recommendations for maximizing your site revenue are:
1. Always place search boxes in highly visible or easy to find locations. In this way your readers will have quicker access to finding information on your site.
2. When possible add two search boxes to long pages to provide easy access to search functionality. This works particularly well with pages that need to be scrolled.
3. Host your search results on your own site. This recommendation makes sense because if you want to create simple navigation within your site, utilizing your own template and containing the search results on your own pages works really well.
4. Add a search box to your search results pages. This makes a lot of sense because if the results of the search didn’t meet your viewers expectations they have the opportunity of performing additional searches.
5. Customize your ad locations. If you follow the logic in item #3 above then this will make sense to you, because you can easily add your own advertising to your search results pages.
Some of my own thoughts are to try and integrate the look of the search engine results to mirror your own template. This adds to the overall customization of the search results pages and also improves readability and flow.

Site Listings Vs. Indexing, The Truth
Every once and a while I get a little bugged about the difference between site listings versus indexing. The difference is not just the nomenclature of the English language but far greater than that. The simple reason is that many marketers would have you believe that they are one in the same, but they are definitely not.
I bring this up because some marketers actually sell you on getting your site “indexed within 48 hours,” when in fact it will be indexed almost automatically within the same period of time by Google, Yahoo and MSN Live. Site indexing is the process of having your site “crawled” by a search engine spider. In the case of Google it’s Googlebot. Most times you can see the spider visits in your site logs. If your hosting account doesn’t provide log stats you should consider getting a better hosting account. Site indexing is very close to being automatic and should take place within first 48 hours of your site going online.
Getting your site to come up in the search results pages is a completely different issue, and one that some unscrupulous marketers push to the limits bordering outright fraud. Strong words but it really bothers me when I see it taking place. For the record: Search results listings are the listings that come up for keyword searches within a search site. For example if you enter “bass fishing gear” in the search bar on Google, the result is a number of sites that come up in the “organic” results of the search. Organic results are the listings that appear on the left hand side of the search listings below the paid listings that are directly on top in a lightly shaded and directly to the right in a vertical column.
These organic listings are tied to specific keywords associated with your site. It can take weeks or months for your keywords to rank within the search engine organic results. This part of the listing process is referred to as Search Engine Optimization and is a wholly and completely different process that can fill volumes on tactics ranging from keyword placement through website content.
So when you see an ad that says “get listed in Google within 48 hours,” don’t waste your money. You can do that part of it yourself. Instead search for SEO advice and assistance within the search engines.

Is Your Domain Name SEO Friendly?
The selection of a domain name has become very important in the bid for search engine placement. This article discusses the reasons why.
Search engine optimization and domains
When you first start an Internet business one of the first items on the list, after you’ve written your business model, is getting a domain name. In years past it wasn’t as difficult to find a decent name for your site. Today however, it’s not as easy to get your dot com name. The process of registering a name has improved substantially but the availability for descriptive names is far more difficult. Why is this a problem you may ask? It’s more of a problem for small and home business sites than it is for larger companies. The reason is simple and I can sum it up in one word: money.
Larger companies, especially public companies have the funding to advertise their new sites, therefore they don’t really need to have names that reflect the type of business they are in. I can site a perfect example, Go Daddy.com, has absolutely nothing to do with the type of business Go Daddy is in. But being the largest register of domain names, GoDaddy can advertise on all media levels to get business including buying advertising time on the Super Bowl! If you are starting a home based business on the Internet, I’ll bet that you won’t be buying time on television not to mention next year’s Super Bowl.
Okay, where am I going with all of this? You are on a limited budget when you start your business and you must rely on free traffic to your site, because without traffic you have no business. This is what I described in my article on organic traffic a few weeks ago. In order to get substantial traffic to your site you’ll need to have an optimized site. This all has to do with keywords and something called keyword density. You achieve this by having your most important keywords dispersed throughout your website and your domain name. (See I did come to the point of this article.)
Most SEO, search engine optimization, programs first look at the domain name and your major keywords. They look to see if your domain name and site title have any commonality. If they do your site receives extra points in the SEO algorithm, (a logical step-by-step procedure for solving a mathematical problem in a finite number of steps, often involving repetition of the same basic operation.) I hope that I haven’t lost you here because all of this is very important, especially to home based Internet business owners.
Most SEO programs will constantly refer back to the domain name and those words which match the dominate keyword phrases that you have chosen. When your site is optimized, search engines will pick up your scent, so to speak, and you will have great placement and positioning on searches that have your keywords. All of this amounts to substantial traffic.
I’m not an expert on SEO and I don’t pretend to be but I’ve spent my share of time in attempting to understand it and how it effects my site. I can recommend two areas that I think are beneficial to you: Web Site Design and Search Engine Optimization. There are a lot of submission services as well. Some of them are good and some of them are not so good. Try to optimize first.
