Work At Home Business - Perfectionism Can Be Your Downfall
You just have to start. Everyone starts somewhere, so don’t worry about where you are now. There can be magic in the beginning of every project. Just start.
How to kill perfectionism
I’ve found that perfectionism and procrastination are two sides of the same coin. There are many times when we delaying starting a task because we want to do everything perfectly. However, the truth is that we lack confidence, and we need to come to terms with our own hesitancy and second-guessing.
If you really think about it, you will also recognize that we seldom hesitate to jump into the activities in which we excel. Indeed, we go for the gusto when we are playing to our strengths. No reluctance or self-doubt there. Just face your fears openly. Acknowledge them. They will soon be dispelled when you take big, bold, massive action toward accomplishing your dreams.
How to beat perfectionism – Give it a knockout punch.
The death blow to perfectionism is taking action. Start your business now. You don’t need to be an expert to start. You don’t need to be a marathoner to take the first step on your journey. Napoleon Hill, the famous author of the all time best-seller “Think and Grow Rich” said it succinctly “Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.”
Consider what you would do if I asked you to walk on a high wire 20 feet in the air with no safety net. You probably wouldn’t do it. But if your child was in danger and walking on that same high wire was the only way to save them, you would. You don’t need to be perfect to take action. You just need to have something important that you want to achieve.
How to beat perfectionism
Don’t put off starting your business because you don’t have all the answers. It’s ok not to know everything when you start, but you need to get started. Napoleon Hill, author of “Think and Grow Rich”, said, “Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.”
Start with the tools that you already have. As you move forward and require more tools, they will be made available to you. You should expect to be a little bit fearful when starting your own internet business. You are stepping out of your comfort zone, so it’s completely understandable to be a little reluctant. But don’t let that fear stop you. Don’t wait and try to be perfect; if you do, you’re letting perfectionism keep you from achieving your goals.
Consider the skilled professionals we rely on: the doctor, the surgeon, the car mechanic, plumbers, and electricians. None of them were born with their skills, and all had to go through a nervous apprenticeship where they had to learn by doing. Because they put aside their fears and invested years in study and experience, they are now the experts you turn to.
The best way to start your business is to think about your passions and what you want to achieve in your lifetime and start there. It’s beneficial to already have a history of achievement, whether it’s in academics, athletics or the arts. What you’ve achieved specifically isn’t as important as the fact that you achieved it. If you have that history of accomplishment, you’ve already demonstrated the discipline required to work toward your goals. You need that discipline to start growing your business, but you don’t need to be an expert business person.
Let me help you overcome procrastination so you can begin succeeding in your business and in your life. Remember, perfectionism is the enemy of accomplishment.
